Sunil Arora assumes responsibility as Chief Election commissioner

Sunil Arora, a resigned 1980-bunch IAS officer of Rajasthan unit, assumed control as the new Chief Election Commissioner on Sunday. 


Mr. Arora, the senior-most Election Commissioner, succeeded O.P. Rawat, who demitted office on Saturday on finishing of his residency. 

As an IAS officer, Mr. Arora had held a few key posts in the administration. At the Secretary level, he served in the Information and Broadcasting Skill Development and Entrepreneurship services. Mr. Arora additionally had stretches with different services in different limits. He was Joint Secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Indian Airlines CMD for a long time.

Under his watch, the Commission will gather information one year from now. Gathering decisions in Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Odisha, Haryana, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh likewise must be held in 2019.
